Exquisite jewellery in the hands of a physicist

Dear co-creator,

In my 25 years artistic practice I still relish to see the powerful rawness of the stones, minerals and metals meeting the personality of the wearer. I believe that in our world of consumption we long to carry something that really matters, something that encapsulates our precious moments or just celebrates life and that we can pass for the generations to come.

I am looking forward to create an exquisite piece together with you.

In dialogue with
stones and minerals

Having professional background in physics, my workshop is my laboratory. When every unique shape and outcome of every specific mineral is approached with regard, an amplitude of possibilities opens up - the raw stones are making a statement on their own. I find the form through discovery of physical and chemical processes, amalgamation and experimentation: everything from casting forms ready-made by nature to translating rust to gold. My work is highly influenced by the experiments with the unique character of each and every material and I treasure meeting people who are curious in the creating process itself.

"Go away," says the stone.
"I'm shut tight.
Even if you break me to pieces,
we'll all still be closed.
You can grind us to sand,
we still won't let you in."

Alfredas Daulius

Alfredas Daulius graduated from the Department of Mathematics and Physics at Siauliai University in 1984. The extensive knowledge he had gathered there proved to be valuable in his development as a jeweller, which has been his full-time profession since the fall of USSR.
Today Alfredas enjoys the benefits of the global market to be able to gather concentration in his ateljé in the alley of chestnut trees in his home town Siauliai, Lithuania.

In the times of mass-production Alfredas workshop stands out by persistent resistance to outsource as he remains fascinated by the whole process from building his own tools to the tiniest detail of his jewellery pieces. His work is characterised by precision and exquisiteness, clear artistic expression and an impact of Baltic nature. Alfredas jewellery carries a clear signum, highlighting the personality of the carrier.
